What Did You Do at Work Today?

I brewed beer. Yeah, I'm braggin bitches.

So as I alluded to in my previous post, I took a new job. I'm the assistant brewer a/k/a brew bitch/beer sales rep. at Backcountry Brewery in Frisco, CO.

Today was my first day, and I "helped" brew our Peak One Porter. "Help" means I stood around for several hours and observed what was being done by the head brewer. My biggest action of the day came when I got to shovel the grain out of the mash tun. At one point I dropped my shovel and had to hop in. It reminded me of a summer day of working on a roof in Georgia. Humid as shit. Let me tell you, shit is pretty effin humid.

Big Changes

So I haven't posted in a loooooong time. I don't even know if people check this thing anymore. My life is about to change dramatically.

After living in Denver for over 9 years, I'll now be moving to Breckenridge, CO and living at an elevation of about 10,000 ft. So obviously I'll have a new job. Not because of the elevation, but because of the location. I won't give details of the job yet, but I will be working in the Craft Beer industry. As soon as I have officially started, I'll post more details.

Other than the great new job, the primary reason I'm moving up there is to live with my wonderful girlfriend/partner, Diane, and to head out on a long journey with her.

Seems like as people get older, they move away from the mountain life. I'm 31 and taking my life in a completely different direction by moving up there. It should be an interesting lifestyle change to say the least. I've definitely come to love Denver over the years. One of the good things about living up there, though, is that I'll have my choice of road biking or mountain biking to work. I definitely need to get my ass in better shape. I'm a far cry from the shape I was in a year ago.

I don't have a whole lot of pictures of Diane on my computer (ahem, D, hint hint), but here is one from the night of our first, chance meeting.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Everyone should listen to this on this day, if not many other days the rest of the year. Truly moving. Gives me chills every time.
